Coach Oscar Dillard

Oscar Dillard is a native of Atlanta, Georgia where he attended and graduated from Frederick Douglass High School. Dillard received the B.S. Degree in Health and Physical Education from Morehouse College.  As a young athlete, he was known for his winning presence during his high school and college career. 

Highlights Include
Played for Douglass High School in Atlanta, GA from 1971-76; won three championships as player on 8th grade, Junior Varsity and Varsity Teams North Georgia Champion in 1975-76, played in the 1975-76 State Championship Game  Selected All-City and All State Running Back, 1975-76 High School Stats include 43-6 record (88%) Elected as Douglass High School Hall of Fame member in academics and sports voted team captain in high school and college, Won SIAC Championship at Morehouse College in 1979-80

After receiving his undergraduate Degree, Dillard worked as an intern for Eastern Airlines for 3 years followed by 9 years of employment.  He opened Unique Sports World, the first black-owned distributorship for Reebok in 1990. Since 1991, Dillard has been a teacher and Football Coach in the Atlanta and Fulton County Public School System.  Much like his playing career, Dillard has achieved an equally successful coaching career:

  • Coached Crim High School to 30-6 record and 3 playoff appearances, 1991-94
  • Coached Archer High School to 9-1 record and 1 playoff appearance, 1994-95
  • Coached Mays High School to 5-5 record; first winning season in 5 years, 1995-97
  • Coached Westlake High School to 14-6 record (70%) and 2 playoff appearances, 1997-99
  • Assistant Coach record includes 64-18, (78%) and 6 playoff appearances

As the owner of Atlanta Sports Management, Dillard continued on his mission to develop and manage athletes who show promise of being the best talents to step onto the gridiron.  Dillard was hired as Director of Player Development for Complete Sports in Cincinnati , Ohio by Tim McGee.  He worked with Complete Sports from 2002-03.  Throughout the latter part of his career, Dillard sought to use the expertise he has honed while coaching Atlanta athletes and the relationships acquired through the years with professional athletes and sports marketers into his own enterprise. 

As part of attempting to fulfill this dream, he became part owner of the Oklahoma Crude/Rome Renegades during 2003-05.  After selling the franchise, Dillard decided to use his expertise to train talented young athletes (ages 6 - 18) as a part of Oscar Dillard's All Sports Academy and Summer Camp. Dillard's professional associations include membership in the Black College Coaches Association (BCA), Georgia High School Athletic Association (GHSAA); attended the Florida State University Players and Coaches Camp in Tallahassee, Florida, April 1995 and April 2000; and selected among 100 minority coaches across the nation to attend the BCA Football Coaching Excellence clinic at the Miami Dolphins Training Center in Miami, Florida.

Oscar is married to the former Marie Reid and they are the parents of two children: a daughter, Courtney Marie and a son, Ryan Oscar Dillard.

High School Coaching Highlights
Dillard has sent over 100 youth to college through his coaching since 1989. Some of the highlights are:

Westlake High School had the most players on active NFL rosters for the year 2005-2006. Jamal Lewis named top RB in HS in the nation. (Douglass HS) Top 3 RBs in Frederick Douglass HS history (James Davis- Clemson, Jamal Lewis & Oscar Dillard). Kelly Campbell, selected in the top 3 WRs in GA, (Mays HS). Coached 6 players that had over 1000 yards rushing, Ben Middlebrook (Mays HS), Keith Adams, Lew Thomas, Travis Booker, Jamel Walters, & Adam "Pac Man" Jones (Westlake HS).   Also Coached Sean Jones @ Westlake HS. He is listed in the top 10 QBs in Georgia history for the most passing yardage; (Over 2,600 yards & 31 TDs in one year 1999-2000). Last but not least, Coached Detronn Harris, # 1 Specialist in the Country & Top 10 WRs in the nation 1998-1999
